What Is EQ?

EQ, or Emotional Quotient, is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions while also understanding the feelings of other people. People with good EQ often get along with others and deal with problems in a calm way. The idea of emotional intelligence was first introduced by psychologists Peter Salovey and John Mayer in 1990. It became famous around the world after Daniel Goleman published his book Emotional Intelligence in 1995. Today, many teachers and companies believe that EQ is an important skill because it helps people communicate better, work well in teams, and build strong relationships.
